Living in Mont Kiara
An upscale residential suburb northwest of central KL and the heart of an expat community where high-rise condominiums and international schools cluster. Said to be home to residents from over 30 countries, it is popular with families.
Transport
There is no rail station within the area; the nearest is KTM Komuter's Segambut station, about 10–15 minutes by car. Life is essentially car-dependent, though the area has well-maintained pavements and is relatively walkable. A Mont Kiara station is planned on the future MRT Circle Line (not yet open).
Landmarks & malls
Commercial facilities such as Publika Shopping Gallery, 1 Mont Kiara, Plaza Mont Kiara, Solaris Mont Kiara and Sunway 163 Mall.
Schools & hospitals
Garden International School (British curriculum) and Mont'Kiara International School / M'KIS (North American curriculum) are located here. The Lycée (French school) is also within 3km.
Rent
Mainly upscale condominiums, with rates on the higher side (specific rents are withheld as no reliable source could be obtained).
Who it suits
Best suited to expat families who value proximity to international schools and a foreign community. On the other hand, rail links are weak, so life depends on cars and ride-hailing services.
