A popular residential area about 4km southwest of central KL. With its abundant cafés, dining and nightlife, it has a cosmopolitan atmosphere long favored by young professionals, creatives, expats and local families.
Transport
Served by Bangsar station on the LRT Kelana Jaya Line, with Abdullah Hukum, Kerinchi and Universiti stations nearby. Directly connected to downtown by LRT.
Landmarks & malls
Bangsar Shopping Centre, Bangsar Village I & II, and Jalan Telawi (Bangsar Baru, known as "the strip") where dining and nightlife gather. A pasar malam (night market) is held on Sundays.
Schools & hospitals
Pantai Medical Centre, established in 1974, is located here. Nearby (on the Petaling Jaya side) is University Malaya Medical Centre.
Rent
As an upscale residential area, rates are on the higher side. General guides put apartments at roughly RM1,800/month and up, and landed houses at RM5,000 or more, but these are general descriptions on individual guide sites and vary by property and condition.
Who it suits
Suited to those who want both downtown convenience and a lively local neighborhood. A good fit for young professionals, creatives, expats and settled families who wish to avoid the impersonal feel of the city center.
